You cant have the juice without the squeeze...
With the entire community of bike builders converging on the East Coast for the Brooklyn Invitational last year, Brandon of Brawny Built / The Speed Merchant and I got to talking about his Born Free 5 build, and after taking home an acclaimed win in his respective category, he was dead set on topping himself from the previous years success.
Coming to terms with the fact, even a beautifully crafted custom Sportster is...Well, still just a smaller displacement motorcycle screaming for more ponies. So with that in mind Brawny and I hashed out a plan to finesse some Big Twin crushing power into a handsomely wrapped little Sportster. Leaving no gear un-turned and no cylinder un-bored, we're setting forth in transforming a base 94' Sportster into an unrecognizable heap of metal chips, rendering the once little engine that couldn't into a custom machined power-plant of impeding speed.

From the Murky Depths "Faas Family Heirlooms" Part I

Billy's old man is quite possibly the single reason I fell in love with motorcycles, Billy and his family lived across the street from me when I was a kid, his dad and crew had some of the coolest choppers I had ever seen... Of course back then I didn't know a chopper from a stocker, but I knew what cool looked like and they were it.
So some 30 years later Super Storm Sandy hits Long Island and wipes out a bunch of houses, and with those houses a bunch of garages... and in those garages a bunch of irreplaceable history.

Billy's Uncle found his 80' FLH and 76' FXE floating like flotsam in the storm and had with great despair given up on making them right again...
But Billy who had been after these bikes since he was kicker pedal high wouldn't let his uncle send them off to die. Billy promptly phoned me up and like a child high on pixie sticks told me he finally got "Those 2 bikes"
A days later Billy shows up with the FLH, FXE and a trailer spilling seawater through the streets.
After a quick inspection, the harsh soggy possibility of these 2 bikes never running again was looking pretty imminent. The turn signals on the FLH were still entirely filled with water, as were the saddlebags...to the top!
The FXE was even worse, soggy and still puking seawater from every orifice....
But for Billy there was not an option... He HAD to ride these bikes, after waiting his entire life for his uncle to relinquish them, there was no way he was turning back now.

With heavy task Christian set out in complete tear down , and rebuild mode soup to nuts....and bolts.
Wiring, pistons, crank, transmission, primary, buttons, bolts, and bulbs, nothing left untouched.
A few months later and the spring air creeping in, Billy finally took the saddle fired her up and gave her a spin for the first time as the official owner of the Faas Family Heirloom FLH
